ROCKIN ROBIN WEEK 1: RECTANGLES

It’s finally here! The first week of the Rockin Robin Quilt Along. This week’s row belongs to Lisa Marie of That Crazy Quilty Girl. Let me tell you a little bit about Lisa. She is a little crazy. But in a good way! She’s a great long-arm quilter and has quilted several pieces for me. She SO good that she won second place in her first ever entry into the MQS national show! And it’s really awesome too. She also won honorable mention at another big show. Anyway, the directions for this row are at her blog, so go there and get busy! Make sure you show your row in our flickr pool as well. Don’t forget there are prizes for finishing this quilt!

This is a really fun row to make. It has a little flap all around the black that gives it a 3D element. And here is my row. I chose to use black for the background. I’ve never, ever used black before! But I sure had fun with it. For the entire quilt, I bought three yards of Moda Bella solid black and ended up using about 2 1/2 yards of it. Not to worry, the other 1/2 yard made it into the back. Then for the colors, I picked pink and green, and used all fabrics from my stash. I hate to admit it, but I still have quite a few pinks and greens left! You can choose any colors you wish, including a rainbow or even just one or two individual prints with some solids. Or all solids. Or no solids. Really the sky’s the limit. And I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with.

Go ahead and check out everybody else’s rows in different colors and styles:
